... is inspired by the wisdom of Early Childhood Education (ECE). We strive to cultivate imagination, the love of nature, and the spirit of inquiry. Pixie Nursery School embraces Magda Gerber's Resources for Infant Educarers (RIE) approach, which pays close attention to respecting each child at their own developmental stage and acknowledging all individual needs. We are fully committed to helping our parents and guardians create a healthy foundation for every child's intellectual, emotional, social, physical, and spiritual growth. We support our children to grow as independent, creative thinkers who will make positive contributions to the world.

Our philosophy is to provide a nurturing, RESPECTFUL, and enriching environment. We focus on the developmental areas of infants (0 to 2 years old) and toddlers (2 to 3 years old). Pixie Nursery School pays close attention to gross motor development, fine motor development, and language skills. Infants and toddlers are never rushed into doing what they are not yet ready to do. Babies are never placed in positions they cannot get into on their own; we offer freedom of movement rather than bouncers, walkers, or swings. We honor and respect each child's developmental stage. Our approach is different from traditional classroom-based programs: each day is calm and relaxed, and children are encouraged to do whatever they can naturally on their own. Our work is inspired by Magda Gerber, as well as Rudolf Steiner, founder of Waldorf education. Pixie Nursery School shares the vision that the art of education provides the means to grow, learn, and strengthen the soul. We honor every child as one-of-a-kind and special.

Pixie Nursery School was founded in 2015 by Adriana Palmeira, MPA, an educator and mother of three with 35 years of experience in early childhood education. Her dream and vision was to establish the highest-caliber ECE program in Marin County, California. Adriana is a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator and a Certified Positive Discipline Early Childhood Educator (Positive Discipline Association), and has completed RIE Foundations training. She speaks English, Portuguese, and Spanish. Pixie Nursery School focuses exclusively on children from 3 months to 3 years of age. Our goal is to create specialized routines for each child, instilling in them a feeling of WONDER.
